Argyle certainly didn’t grab the headlines on 3rd round replay night, but a professional performance was enough to secure a safe passage to round 4. Peterborough started brightly and were rewarded for early pressure, Aaron Mclean rounding a stranded Luke McCormick. However, the Greens seemed determined to make their superior 46 league places count. A quick response from Barry Hayles settled any nerves and David Norris’ strike on the half hour proved decisive. The slender advantage made second half tension inevitable, but a solid display ensured the banana skin was avoided.
Nevertheless, after Saturday’s football feast, tonight was less of a Posh nosh, more like an honest Ivor’s.
