The Third Division Championship Medal belonging to John Williams from 1958-59. The 1958-59 season was the first season of the new “National” 3rd Division which had previously been split into North and South Sections. Argyle won the title by a point from Hull City ending a 3 season stay in the third tier.

John “Cardiff” Williams was a popular member of the Third Division title winning squad making made 24 appearances that year. A hugely popular member of the squad, John was retained for a further two years to help bring reserve team players through.

John sadly passed away in October 2022, and we are very grateful to his family for donating his blazer, tie and medal to the Argyle Archive. Our thanks also go to Archive Sponsors PASOTI for helping to arrange this donation
